Position Overview

The Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the design and optimization of electrical systems supporting critical infrastructure such as pipelines, compressor stations, and storage facilities. The role involves applying advanced technologies including automation, real-time monitoring, and energy storage to improve operational efficiency and reliability.

This position also plays a key role in ensuring safety through the implementation of arc flash mitigation, fault detection systems, and compliance with regulatory and environmental standards. The engineer will manage projects from concept to completion, ensuring alignment with operational goals, safety requirements, and project timelines.

Location Note:
This position will be based in Pittsburgh, PA for approximately the first two (2) years. Following this period and depending on project status, the role is expected to relocate to either Tulsa, OK or Houston, TX based on business needs. Candidates must be willing and able to relocate as part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of electrical systems and power distribution networks supporting critical infrastructure such as pipelines, compressor stations, and storage facilities.

  • Integrate advanced technologies including automation, real-time monitoring, and energy storage to enhance system performance and reduce operational costs.

  • Implement safety measures such as arc flash mitigation and fault detection systems to ensure personnel safety and infrastructure reliability.

  • Provide technical expertise in power distribution, electrical schematics, and system layouts for new construction and facility upgrades.

  • Manage complex engineering projects from concept through completion while ensuring alignment with business objectives, timelines, and budgets.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards across all electrical systems and project execution.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver effective engineering solutions.

  • Mentor and support junior engineers, encouraging technical development and knowledge sharing.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of power system design, analysis, and simulation tools such as ETAP, MATLAB, PSCAD, Simulink, or similar.

  • Knowledge of high-voltage equipment, including transformers, generators, and switchgear.

  • Understanding of grid integration and renewable energy systems.

  • Experience managing procurement processes for electrical equipment and materials, including vendor coordination.

  • Preferred experience overseeing Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), commissioning, testing, and startup of electrical equipment.

Job requirements

Education & Experience

Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university
    OR

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering Technology from an ABET-accredited college or university in a relevant field with a Professional Engineer (P.E.) License

  • Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in natural gas, data centers, or a related industry

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License

  • Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering

Additional Requirements

  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with safety as a top priority

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications

  • Experience reviewing arc flash studies and implementing improvements

  • Working knowledge of electrical design codes such as NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE

Preferred:

  • Experience with PLCs

  • Project management experience

  • Experience in Pre-FEED, FEED, or EPC phases of small to medium facility projects

  • Experience designing and implementing Instrumentation Systems, including PLC and HMI systems

Work Schedule & Travel

  • Must be willing to travel up to 50%.
