Job description

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Primary Design Engineer for HV/EHV GIS & AIS substation projects. The role involves handling pre-bid and detailed engineering, including layouts, equipment sizing, grounding, busbar design, and coordination with cross-functional teams.
Gulf experience is mandatory.

Job requirements

Pre-Bid Engineering

  • Review tender documents, technical specifications, and project requirements

  • Prepare conceptual primary layouts, GA drawings, and SLDs

  • Develop preliminary BOQs, equipment sizing, and quantity take-offs

  • Propose optimized layouts considering cost, space, safety, and constructability

  • Coordinate with estimation and proposal teams

  • Interface with OEMs/vendors for technical data and inputs

  • Identify technical risks, deviations, and value-engineering opportunities

  • Support technical clarifications and bid evaluations

Detailed Engineering / Execution

  • Prepare and review:

    • General Arrangement (GA) & layout drawings

    • Equipment layout plans and sectional views

    • Cable routing and earthing layouts

    • Busbar calculations and drawings

    • HV equipment interconnection details

  • Perform equipment sizing and selection:

    • Circuit breakers, isolators, CTs, PTs, surge arresters, etc.

  • Conduct electrical and mechanical clearance studies

  • Develop and review substation grounding (earthing) design

  • Ensure compliance with IEC, IEEE, IS, CBIP and client standards

  • Coordinate with secondary design, civil, and protection teams

  • Participate in design reviews and client/consultant meetings

Qualifications

  • BE / B.Tech or ME / M.Tech in Electrical Engineering

Experience

  • 7–10 years in Electrical Primary Design

  • Strong experience in GIS & AIS substations (HV/EHV up to 380kV)

  • Gulf experience mandatory

  • Saudi project experience preferred
