Job description

We are hiring an HSE & FIT Promoter responsible for supporting safe operations across yard premises and onboard vessels. The role includes implementing HSSE rules, conducting emergency drills, assisting firefighting and life-saving operations, gas monitoring, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures.

You will act as a front-line safety promoter, supported by HSE officers and inspectors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct firefighting, emergency rescue & pollution control drills.

  • Respond to real emergencies and incidents when required.

  • Inspect, install & maintain firefighting, life-saving, rescue and pollution control equipment.

  • Maintain inventory and ensure availability of safety equipment.

  • Assist project teams with onboard firefighting installations.

  • Perform monthly fire extinguisher inspections.

  • Conduct gas monitoring of confined spaces; update status charts.

  • Report all HSSE observations, incidents, hazards to supervisors.

  • Patrol hot work and confined space areas to ensure safety compliance.

  • Monitor hazardous operations across trades/contractors.

  • Ensure personnel follow PPE & HSE requirements at all times.

  • Perform SAP entries (Service Entry, PR, RFI, Reservation).

  • Support a safe and healthy work environment and participate in wellbeing programs.

  • Perform any other related duties assigned.

Key Result Area

  • Effective implementation of HSE requirements across all projects, vessels, workshops, buildings, and open yard areas.

Interactions

  • Internal: Operations teams – walkthroughs & inspections

  • External: Client representatives – safety observations & walkthrough findings

Qualifications

  • Minimum Secondary Education

  • Authorized Gas Tester

  • H2S + Breathing Apparatus trained

  • Advanced training in firefighting, rescue & pollution control

  • NEBOSH IGC preferred (not mandatory)

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication (English – oral & written)

  • MS Office skills

  • Shipyard operations knowledge (preferred)

  • Ability to work independently & follow instructions

  • Knowledge of HSE policies, procedures, HIRA, First Aid, firefighting, emergency response

  • Authorised Gas Testing

  • Bump testing & gas meter calibration

Job requirements

Experience

Degree holder in OHS: minimum 1 year experienceNon-degree candidate with safety qualification: minimum 5 years relevant experience.

Experience in firefighting & rescue operations

Hands-on experience with gas meters (probe/portable)
