Job Description
The Earthwork Estimator is responsible for preparing cost estimates for heavy civil and earthwork projects by analyzing bid documents, specifications, and blueprints. This role requires collaboration with subcontractors, vendors, and project teams to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
Key Responsibilities
Perform quantity takeoffs, create estimates, and produce detailed proposals.
Supervise and manage the Earthwork estimating team, ensuring performance and accuracy.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
Review bid documents, conduct job walks, and perform risk assessments.
Request, review, and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals.
Collaborate closely with Project Managers and Chief Estimator.
Ensure compliance with industry standards, cost controls, and scheduling requirements.
Present estimates effectively through excellent communication and negotiation skills.
Job requirements
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience estimating heavy civil/earthwork projects.
Proven experience in mass excavation, structural excavation, and site grading.
Strong knowledge of project management and accounting principles.
Proficient in relevant estimating software and technology.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar certification preferred.
