Position Overview

Seeking an experienced Director of Finance with strong RIA and FP&A expertise. This is a high-impact individual contributor role responsible for financial leadership, strategic planning, compliance oversight, and operational scalability.

Key Responsibilities

FP&A & Strategic Leadership

  • Partner with executive leadership on business strategy, profitability, cost optimization, and long-term planning

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, reforecasting, and variance analysis

  • Develop KPIs, dashboards, and executive-level financial reporting

  • Build financial models for growth initiatives, hiring plans, and capacity planning

  • Analyze revenue streams, margins, and expense drivers

  • Support pricing strategy and fee structure analysis

  • Provide insights for acquisitions, technology investments, and expansion

  • Translate financial data into actionable business decisions

Financial Oversight

  • Oversee accounting operations (AP/AR, payroll, budgeting, cash management, tax coordination)

  • Direct month-end close and preparation of financial statements

  • Monitor cash flow, profitability, and expense management

  • Coordinate with external accounting vendors and financial reviewers

  • Prepare board-level financial materials

Risk Management & Compliance

  • Partner with compliance on SEC/FINRA financial reporting alignment

  • Strengthen internal controls, policies, and financial safeguards

  • Identify and mitigate operational and financial risks

Operations & Efficiency

  • Oversee HR and onboarding processes

  • Manage vendor relationships

  • Support ERP implementation and enhancements

  • Optimize technology spend and operational efficiency

Job requirements

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field

  • 10–15 years of progressive finance/accounting experience

  • Minimum 3 years within an RIA serving high-net-worth clients

  • Strong understanding of RIA business models and regulatory frameworks

  • Experience scaling operations in growing firms

  • Expertise in FP&A, financial modeling, budgeting, and KPI development

  • Proficiency in Excel and reporting tools (Power BI preferred)

  • Experience with portfolio accounting systems and CRMs

  • CPA preferred

  • Strong leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills

  • Comfortable in a lean, hands-on environment
